We are very happy to premiere this brandnew video by Canada’s A Tribe Called Red today. The visuals for “Indigenous Power” were made by group-member Bear Witness, while the track is a collaboration with Javier Estrada from Mexico and already out for a while. It’s an epic mixture of Canadian First Nation Pow Wow Step with percussion, calls and flutes paired with Javier’s typical sound, some bad-ass Merengue beat and more.
The video explores the shared experiences of colonization and exploitation through representations and/or misrepresentations of the warrior image from the media. It’s goal is definitely to inspire a feeling of empowerment in Aboriginal audiences.
