Philadelphia, September 23rd: Tropicalismo w/ Uproot Andy

Well, it’s quite uncommon for us (being based in Germany) to post about parties on the other side of the globe, but this one got me interested.
Why?
First: Because I got told that there is no proper Tropical Bass party up to now in Philly – imagine, Mad Decent is based in that city! Reminded me a bit of the situation in Berlin, my love-hated hometown (read our interview with Man Recording’s Daniel Haaksman if you want to know how it feels to run a label in a city that does not catch up on your vibe)…

Second: They got Uproot Andy spinning on their premier party, and all I can say is: Hey Philly, don’t miss on that! Expect Dembows mashed up with folk tunes, crunked out cumbia, dancehall mania en español, coupé décale collides with hip-hop, Carnival mass hysteria, kuduro avec grande vitesse, soca-fied funky house.

Third: I’m curious. Do we have readers based in Philadelphia? Let’s start kind of a statistical investigation – holla at us, folks. And to all our readers: would you like to read more about international dates and tours?

  1. I’m reading your blog for the first time, but I do live in Philly. Bring it.
