Some sunny breaks just flew into our mailbox – meet the Brooklynbased “indie meets baile” duo Sunsplash.
It’s a “boy meets girl in New York” story, Venezuelan meets Brasilian, Espanol meets Portugese. And yes, the vocals are mixed up too – you call that Portuñol, a way of linguistic code-switching.
The male part of Sunsplash, Alberto Stangarone, is actually also part of Venezuelan Tropical Bass project Todosantos, while his companion Brazilian Clarissa Steed goes under one of the best pseudonyms you can think of: Supervixen :D. Embracing a sound which is at the same time housy, full of driving bass and flowing, punky multilingual raps this project promises a lot of fun to come. Further Sunsplash is not only producing original songs, they already did remix work for the likes of LOL Boys (Palms Out), Cory Blaine (Mixpak), Maria y Jose (Cocobass) or Pocz (Abstractor) among others.

A free package called “Live in Maracana” is just out on Cocobass Records and available via their bandcamp. Besides a 20 minute live DJ mix it includes 3 original tracks with remixes by Cory Blaine, Patafunk, JairoMendez and Boody B.

Although released already a while ago on DJs are not Rockstars, their debut EP “Fiera de Finil” is something also to check out. Nice remixes come from DJ Spin Laden, who scores with a nasty wobble look & feel; Rio Neurotic Bass enhances the baile Funk attitude and DJ Pharao lets out your inner Latin House beast.
