Jersey Club Roundup

Posted on 04 November 2011 by Jelka

UPDATE:
Everybody loves Jersey Club right now! Check out Sam Tiba’s (of Club Cheval) brandnew Jersey Club mixtape, it’s a great introduction:

Marble Mixtapes #3 : Sam Tiba – Jersey Club Music (Vol. 1) by Marble Music

Developing a strong fascination for Jersey Club and Jersey Club RnB remixes lately, I decided to share some of my favorite stuff with you. In case you haven’t heard of Jersey Club yet: it’s not about fist-pumping like the typical Jersey Shore soundtrack. I’m talking about a style that without a doubt shares many similarities with Bmore Club or even Bounce and Juke. Artists to mention (from my limited perspective) are for example Chad B, DJ Sliink, DJ Tameil, DJ Irresistible, DJ K Millz, DJ Jayhood or Saucy P. There are many many more, of course, but these are names whose stuff I like – give me more in the comments, will you?!

Make It Clap (Saucy P Vocals) Dj Smoove X Dj Trizzy Trip by SaucyP

Ride That Wave ft. DJ Frosty_NJ ,Dj Webstar , by SaucyP

Beside the hard-hitting baselines and dominant clapping it’s the chopped up and well, call it X-rated if you like, vocals, and some heavy, heavy fascination for squealing and squeaking sound bits that characterize Jersey Club. Sometimes you will also find some almost hysterical synths, definitely dramatic. An extended use of current RnB samples let it partly appear a little bit smoother around the edges (and sometimes gives you a glimpse of an “in bed with David Guetta” feeling).

Lay It Down by Dj K Millz

Shontelle Impossible (Sliink Remix) 2010 by DjSliinkBBC

Only girl ( take me for a ride ) Jersey Rmx by Dj Irresistible

She Aint You (CB) – Official Remix by SaucyP

The Cartel Love Song Pt 2 Official by DjSliinkBBC

Saucy P X Skaboo – If I Could by SaucyP

That undeniable “lets fuck for the next hours” attitude is even enhanced and made more “sensual” when slowing Jersey Club a bit down. Dubbel Dutch did that last summer with his “Jersey Slow Club” mix tape. If you haven’t checked it yet, you definitely missed something:

DUBBEL DUTCH – SLOW CLUB MIX by dubbeldutch

What else? Obviously, dance crews and dance instructions:

Most of the Jersey Club stuff isn’t available as proper release. I recommend to watch the artists Soundcloud pages, most of them are giving away tunes for free download. But normally limited to 100 downloads, so act fast and stay tuned.

Maluca Mala – Lola (Ging Danga)

Posted on 08 June 2011 by Jelka

Giff-tastic, neon-orgastic new video from Maluca, making your eyes flicker like they hopefully never have before, not even in the 90s.
“Lola” is an ode to the “iconic mujer independiente” with Maluca, somehow the protoytype for this kind of women (at least in the Mad Decent roster), flowing in Spanish diction over a Bmore-inspired club beat, all sirens and bass. “Lola” will be part of Maluca’s next EP, no release date yet.

Kid Sister – Kiss Kiss Kiss Mixtape

Posted on 18 January 2011 by Jelka

Pop a bottle – this mixtape is like a champagne shower. My girlie heart is leaping with every beat here. Although Kid Sister went a little bit too commercial lately (in my opinion), this street-tape is bumping with remixes by Douster, Casper and Laidback Luke and even a hefty Juke tune at the end. This is weekend fun ;)

TropicalBass talks to: Sick Girls

Posted on 20 October 2010 by Jelka

The Sick Girls are an institution in Berlin when it comes to a global, bass-heavy sound that makes you wiggle on the dancefloor. They are active as DJs for a couple of years know and well known for their party series Revolution N°5 which brought some of the most interesting artists in contemporary Urban Bass Music to Berlin over the past years (e.g. Kano, Radioclit, Dizzee Rascal, Matt Shadetek, Goldielocks, Mumdance, Mitchell Brothers, Wiley, Spankrock….). On the occasion of their recent mixtape-release on BBE (also including their debut production “V Skank”) I had a little talk with Alex & Johanna about Berlin, ass-kicking music and diversity of styles… Continue Reading

JR Decker – Ghettolove 2.0

Posted on 20 March 2010 by Leub

JR Decker our german fellow and former member of Soulforce, now living in Leeds/UK, has a new mix to share. After the success of Volume 1, which was released around one year ago, it’s time to spread some Ghettolove again.

Ghettolove 2.0 is much rougher, harder and faster than the first one.
