RIP Ranvir Singh from Universal Taal Project

01

TB would like to give a short tribute to one great bassist whose work shifted in part world music and South Asian EDM in a way, i considered him another Dr Das. (Asian Dub Foundation’s bassist)

For many of you who are, let’s say, young, or perhaps into newer genres like Moombah, trap, digital cumbia, might have not ever heard about this man.
But I’m sure his music legacy will be around for a long time as he helped and played with a lot of people.
My Man, Ranvir Singh, passed away after a short but heavy battle with cancer.

Ranvir Singh Verma’s Universal Taal Project experimented with breakbeats, electronics, dubstep, dnb, bhangra, Indian classical, bollywood, jazz, funk, soul, reggae, hip-hop, experimental and much more to bring always a unique sound that featured an array of artists.

He was always moving; never static, Universal Taal Project was a sound beyond limitations and definitions a journey beyond the mind.

The news come as a shock to me as I had just finished an edit of his new album, and he was very excited with the outcome; even though we had never spoken about releasing it officially now I feel at some point it should be released.

My deepest condolences to family and friends who knew him, fellow musicians and everyone in that community.

Let the music live forever

If anyone from his family or label needs the track, feel free to contact me.
